We headed to Download Festival for the day on Saturday 15th June, entering the fray to buckets of rain and Black Star Riders rendition of Thin Lizzy's Whiskey In The Jar. It's not usually a festival that is our bag to be honest but the Saturday lineup really shone for us this year so we thought we'd head down Donnington to check it out.
Particular acts we were keen to catch were Alice in Chains, Motorhead, Queens of The Stone Age all on the main stage, as well as Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats and The Hives in the Pepsi Max tent.
Some great performances on the day, particularly from Alice In Chains for us and who annoyingly had thier set cut short due to bands previously overrunning whilst QOTSA worked the crowd to a tee with new tracks off recently released ....Like Clockwork that stood up well aside classics from Songs For The Deaf and Rated R.
But, the star of the show for us was Lemmy of Motorhead. He entered the stage with such presence and you can see why current stars such as Josh Homme, Eddie Vedder and the likes of Dave Ghrol look up to such an icon. Donned in his famous black attire he quipped before the start of I Know How To Die ''We are Motorhead and we play rock n roll...'' That certainly set the tone.
We recently went our to Barcelona for a well deserved break for a few days and hit up some great rock bars located in The Gothic Quarter and in Bollocks Bar we were welcomed with great music and.... Free popcorn with our drinks..."Rock n Roll will never die..."
We're kicking out the jams again at The Ruby Lounge for another Saturday night songs for the deaf summer edition.
We've got our Vintage Stall to so you can shop while you rock-Mens & Womens Vintage clothes and accessories and of course plenty of beer, Bowie and Cream to keep you rockin' into the wee wee hours.
It's All Kills no killers. At The Nations Saving Grace of Alternative, Rock n Roll. Expect to hear... BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB, PIXIES, LED ZEPPELIN,THE DOORS, JESUS AND MARY CHAIN, T.
