BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB : 100 CLUB LONDON

We headed down to London last week for a very exclusive intimate BRMC show down at The 100 Club. At just 300 capacity we were very priveledged to see one of our favourite rock n roll bands in such a small venue which was quite literally, once in a liftime for us.

We locked down a good spot down at the front on the left, no gap whatsoever between band and fans.
The band ripped through classics such as Beat The Devils Tattoo, Berlin, Aint No Easy Way at the start backed up by their new material off Specter at the Feast.

They calmed prceedings down with a slow, psychedelic old b-side Sreaming Gun (probably needed as the venue was about to cave in by now) The ended the night on the crowd pleasers Whatever Happened To My Rock n Roll and Spread Your Love. Six Barell Shotgun was a welcome surprise that wasnt intially on the setlist too.

After a stomping rendeition of Berlin halfway through the set, bass player Robert Levon Been,used to playing 1,500+ venues and big festivals, was in a slight state of shock of what he was witnessing, praisedthe crowd saying;

"This is a beautiful thing, playing here. We've been doing nothing but fucking summer festivals for the past few months but playing here, with a roof over our heads and so close to you guys, is the way it should be. Thank you, everyone."

After the gig, the fire alarm sounded and the band stepped out side and performd Weight Of The World for the lucky people who hung around to wait for such a special moment.

The buzz online about the gig after was hot. The Band themselves stated;
‘’The last mad night at the '100 Club' in London was a good reminder why we do whatever the hell it is that we do. Everyone that came out tore the place apart and then nearly burnt it down.’’

OUR DAY WITH BILLY CORGAN AND THE SMASHING PUMPKINS

Our Remake Remodel Mondays may have stopped for summer but that doesn't mean they have been blue, and particularly not on Monday 1st July. At 4pm we were lucky enough to be invited along to The Smashing Pumpkins sound check for their gig at Manchester Academy (a relatively small venue for the pumpkins to play). We hung out on the tour bus with our fav pumpking Billy Corgan. After watching many interviews we were intrigued as to what he had to say, if you have seen any you will know he can talk the talk and lots of it. We weren't disappointed he done exactly that talking the music business, their set at Glastonbury the previous night and ahem slagging a band or two (not naming any names) and oddly Hadrian's wall. We then went for what felt like our own personal show and got an extra little treat only for the sound check and that was Hendrix's Purple Haze.

Later that night they showed there appreciation of rock n roll's greatest by covering Bowie's Space Oddity and ending the set on Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song and Dylan's All Along the Watchtower.

The gig itself, sold out in well in advance, was a rocker. The band ripped through a notably well balanced set of new and old. Playing songs from their latest album Oceania as well as classics such as Bullet For Butterfly Wings, Stand Inside Your Love and Ava Adore to name a few. The gig was great and the crowd left in a high with only a few dissent murmurs of there was no Cherub Rock. But to make up for that 1979 was played which is a rarity at a Smashing Pumpkins gig these days.

A very special day for us to meet one of our musical heroes. Thanks to Jack for sorting such a smashing day x
